Risk
Assessments
Under health and safety law, employers and those responsible for premises have a legal duty to assess and manage risks in the workplace — including risks from water systems. Our Legionella Risk Assessments are carried out by qualified and experienced assessors using the latest software to produce detailed, site-specific reports tailored to your needs.

Risk Assessment
Before we begin the assessment, we take time to understand your site and requirements. This includes discussing any access restrictions, the type of water systems in place, and the needs of those who use the building — such as staff, residents, or patients.
Once the assessment is complete, you’ll receive a clear remedial action plan. This highlights any areas that don’t meet current standards and prioritises actions using a traffic light system:
-
Red for high-priority issues
-
Amber for medium-priority
-
Green for lower-risk items
This helps you clearly understand where improvements are needed and which issues should be addressed first to stay compliant and protect building users.
Your Legal Duty to Manage Legionella Risk
According to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE):
“Employers have duties under health and safety law to assess risks in the workplace. Risk assessments should be carried out that address all risks that might cause harm in your workplace.”
To support this, the Approved Code of Practice (ACoP) L8: Legionnaires’ Disease – The Control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems outlines what dutyholders — such as employers, landlords, and facilities managers — must do to stay compliant. This guidance has special legal status and helps ensure you’re meeting your obligations under health and safety law.
The core requirement is to carry out a suitable and sufficient risk assessment to identify potential sources of Legionella risk. From this, a written scheme of control should be developed, detailing how these risks will be managed and reduced as far as is reasonably practicable. This is key to protecting the health, safety, and welfare of anyone who may be exposed to your water systems.
