Pre Planned
Maintenance
(PPM)

Proactive maintenance is one of the most effective ways to control Legionella and other waterborne pathogens in domestic hot and cold water systems.

Rather than waiting for problems to arise, Pre Planned Maintenance (PPM) helps you stay ahead — reducing risk, avoiding costly reactive work, and protecting building users.

A well-structured PPM programme is not just about ticking compliance boxes — it's about putting preventative measures in place that genuinely support the safety, efficiency, and resilience of your water systems.

Pre Planned
Maintenance

Keeping water systems safe and compliant means staying proactive. That’s why Pre Planned Maintenance (PPM) is so important — it helps to manage risk before issues arise.

At Aqua Protec, we tailor our PPM programmes to meet the specific needs of each site, based on the findings of your Legionella Risk Assessment. These programmes are designed to protect building users and maintain the performance of your water systems.

We work closely with Water Safety Groups in healthcare settings, aligning our services with your Water Safety Policy and Water Safety Plan. Our team understands the importance of a collaborative, site-specific approach, especially in complex environments like hospitals.

All of our work is informed by British Standards, ensuring our methods follow industry best practice and deliver high-quality results every time.

Staying Compliant with Legal Requirements

Our PPM services are compliant with key legislation regulations and guidelines including:

  • Health and Safety at Work etc Act (1974): Sets out the general duties which employers have towards employees and members of the public

  • COSHH (2002): UK Law requiring employers to implement control measures to prevent or adequately control exposure to biological hazards including legionella bacteria

  • ACoP L8 (2013): Sets out practical guidance on how to meet legal and regulatory requirements in relation to the control of Legionella

  • HSG274 (2014): Provides detailed guidance on how to implement, manage, and monitor water hygiene measures.

  • HTM04-01 (2016): Sets out enhanced standards for healthcare environments, where a more rigorous approach is essential.

With Aqua Protec, you can be confident your PPM schedule not only meets regulatory requirements — it’s also built around the unique needs of your site.
